Welcome To Mrs. Butcher's Page!
I'm Texan by choice, but Louisiana at heart. I've lived in Texas since the summer of 2000, after college graduation. I attended Nicholls State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications, with Public Relations and Broadcast Journalism specialties.
After working in the journalism and film industries for a few years, I had a calling to teach kids the value and power of writing. I have a true love and passion for writing, and once I began teaching, I devloped a love for literature. My goal is to have my kids fall in love with reading and writing, and even if that doesn't happen, I want them to feel more confident about their reading and writing abilities.
I taught in Garland and McKinney before coming to Melissa, and I've taught 8th and 7th grade ELAR (mix of academic and honors), English IV, Theatre Arts, and exploratory French. This year I am excited about my classes: English IV, English III, and dual credit assistant.
I'm looking forward to spreading the joys of our language!
Certifications: 4-8 Generalist, 6-12 Journalism, 8-12 English LA, 6-12 Dance
